Don Juan Chill Co. is bringing the heat with Spicy Night on:

May 2, 2026, 8:00PM

at The Commons at MTS.

₱150 door charge.

4 amazing local bands playing original music.

Cerise!

Lost Tribe!

Project Satellite!

And Tamad si Juan!

Events like Spicy Night… this is what keeps the local scene alive.

There are no big corporate sponsors calling the shots.

No Manila-based production company coming in and telling everyone what to do.

Just a small, passionate group of locals who love music, love their city, and decided to make something happen with whatever they had.

These self-started events are important.

Very important.

Because nobody is going to build Davao’s music scene for us.

Nobody is going to fly in from Manila and say “hey, let’s give these Davao bands a stage.”

 That’s not how it works.

It never was.

The only way it gets built is when people decide… “okay, let’s do this.”

And that’s what makes Spicy Night worth your ₱150.

A hundread and fifty pesos, guys.

That’s not even one decent meal at a fastfood chain.

The Bands

Here’s who’s playing that night:

BandWhat They Are
CeriseNeo-funk/jazz-pop trio, Davao City
Project SatelliteHeavy, high-energy rock band, Davao City
Lost TribeProgressive Reggae band, Davao City
Tamad si JuanRed Horse Muziklaban Champions, Davao City

Cerise

Cerise was formed in 2016 as a college rock project and has since reinvented itself into… honestly, something quite special.

The name came from vocalist Siobhan’s cherry-red hair. Simon, then the bassist, ended the band’s naming dilemma with one word.

And just like that, Cerise was born.

Cerise is a jazz-pop band from Davao with a sound that is both playful and deeply musical. Simon’s bass lines really drive the music forward and the keyboards add a layer of sophistication that you don’t always expect from a local band.

The neo-funk outfit turns Unity Coffee into a temporary home for misfits, introverts and anyone who wanted to feel both seen and soothed by rhythm.

That kind of energy?

That’s what they’re bringing to the Commons.

Siobhan fronts the band and her voice is… it’s something else.

Catch them live now, before they blow up and tickets start costing more than ₱150.

You can find them on Spotify. Give the song Inamorata a listen. You won’t regret it.

More on Cerise Here.

Project Satellite

I’m a big fan of the band Project Satellite.

There.

Why?

Because Project Satellite is an amazing band onstage.

Words cannot fully describe the things they do onstage. If they were already a captivating band back in 2016 as a four-piece, their transformation into a five-piece band only made them better, and more powerful.

The dominant personality in the band is Rhys.

He is undoubtably a great frontman equipped with a voice that can be both haunting and pained when he needs it to be. And yet there are hints of tenderness that shine through if the occasion calls for it.

Chokie is the perfect foil to Rhys’ over-the-top performance. He also employs the same wild abandon to his fretwork. It is a mad concoction of funk and metal, spiced with short, spastic bursts of rough riffs that make their songs truly come alive.

They are on Spotify too, by the way. Go listen to Maria, Space Out, Thing, and Woogie. All four are worth your time.

Lost Tribe

Lost Tribe is a Davao-based band that has been around for more than a decade now. They’ve been very active in Davao’s music scene.

Their sound blends indie, alternative, hip-hop, and reggae. They are a versatile band and easily a crowd favorite.

If you’ve ever been to a Davao gig and felt that easy, swaying, just-right kind of groove… there is a good chance Lost Tribe was responsible for that feeling. They are veterans of this scene and they know exactly what they’re doing on any stage.

More on Lost Tribe here.

Tamad si Juan

Okay. These guys. Where do I start.

Tamad si Juan recently won the Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban.

But their win didn’t happen overnight.

Tamad si Juan fought their way through the Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban 2025 competition, one of the most grueling and prestigious band competitions in the Philippines, stage by stage, round by round, city by city.

The name Tamad Si Juan plays off one of Filipino culture’s most beloved folk archetypes, the story of Juan’s legendary laziness. But the irony is glorious. This band seems hell-bent on proving they are the complete opposite of that preconceived notion.

When you watch TSJ perform live, you understand that this is not a band of individuals. They work as one unit, like a machine, and Reg roars on top of it all with a voice that fills the room ten times over. musikawabad

National champions.

Playing at the Commons MTS.

For ₱150.

You might as well take this opportunity to see them before ticket prices soar sky-high.

Don Juan Chill Co. and the Story Behind This Whole Night

Don Juan Chill Co. is the main organizer of Spicy Night and they produce one of the best, locally made hot sauces in Davao.

If you haven’t tried it yet, you are missing out… seriously. It has become a regular fixture in a lot of households.

Particularly the kinds of households where msuicians live.

Here’s why.

The man behind Don Juan Chill Co. is Rhys Vargas.

Yes.

That Rhys.

Project Satellite’s vocalist.

That same guy with the haunting voice and the commanding stage presence… he makes hot sauce.

Really, really good hot sauce.

He started the business with a little financial help from his dad.

And then, because he’s the kind of person who puts meaning into everything he does, he named it after his dad. Don Juan Chill Co.

When you buy a bottle of Don Juan Chill Co., you’re not just buying hot sauce. You’re supporting a musician who took a leap of faith, who started something with his own two hands, who named his dream after the man who believed in him.

And if you’re a musician in Davao… make sure you have a bottle at home.

Just in case your bandmates show up to jam and things get hungry. Because according to the people who actually know, Don Juan Chill Co. hot sauce is hot. Rockin’ hot.

Look. May 2, 2026 is still a few weeks away from now. That is good news.

That means you have time.

Time to save up.

Time to tell your friends.

Time to share this post and make sure everyone in your crew knows about Spicy Night.

₱150 gate fee.

That is nothing.

Save a little each week and you won’t even feel it.

And what you get in return is a full night of live music from four of Davao’s best bands… a national champion among them.

Giveaways and Merch. Support Local!

Here’s the part that makes Spicy Night even better.

The local sponsors are giving away gifts that night.

So aside from great music, you might actually go home with something.

The bands are also selling their merch at the event.

This is your chance to directly support the artists you love.

Buying merch is one of the most direct ways you can help a local band. It funds their next recording session. Their next rehearsal. Their next set of strings. It keeps them going.

So if you love what they do, show up and buy something.

The sponsors making this night possible are a great group of local businesses:

These are local businesses choosing to invest in local music.

That is the kind of support system that keeps a music scene healthy and breathing.

Support them back.
