I admit, I’m a big fan of the band Tamad Si Juan.
What’s funny is: the anecdotal stories of Juan’s laziness that’s part & parcel of our Filipino culture doesn’t seem to reflect the work ethic of this band.
The band Tamad Si Juan seems hell-bent on proving that they’re the complete opposite of that preconceived notion associated with the name.
In short, this is one of the hardest working bands in Davao today and their sets are sure to make you sweat. Tamad Si Juan or TSJ won crowds over with their energetic performances. All members of the band are veterans of the Davao music scene and know what it takes to reach the top of the musical heap.
Why Tamad Si Juan Rocks
Reg is a highly capable frontman, captivating in his own right. The rest of the team work as one, like a machine providing the beat upon which this diminutive frontman (with an oversized voice) roars upon.
Shem’s solid beat along with Choi’s steady bass lines provide the anchor for Kram’s playful guitar work. Lion’s effects serves as icing on the cake with his workstation taking up the rest of the stage.
Where Can You Find TSJ?
They currently play mostly at Gio’s Crib with 2 solid hours of music ready to deafen the appreciative crowd.
Tamad Si Juan is definitely a band people of Davao have to support as they have the potential to be big contenders in conquering the largely untapped landscape of talent in Mindanao by the Philippines massive music industry.
Is The Band On Hiatus?
Since I’m updating this for 2020, questions of the band’s existence come to mind. Are they on hiatus? Reg is currently playing in Nairud, Kram and Soulbrah have found their way to MOAWH.
Shem’s also playing with several bands, most notably, Cotton Candy.
So, what’s in store for the band?
