I think I’ve waited long enough and no one’s probably going to come out with an Enya Wireless Footswitch review. So, I guess I’ll have to be the one to do it.

I’m going to talk specifically about the Enya Inspire Wireless Footswitch because sadly, these things are not compatible to other lines. So, if you have a NEXG or a Cyber-G, you’ll have to buy a separate footswitch for those to have a hands-free experience.

That’s sad.

I do hope though that the Enya Inspire Wireless Footswitch is compatible with the Nova Go Sonic because that would really suck if you had to bring separate footswitch controllers if you opt to bring both guitars to a gig.

I would just love to switch guitars and still retain the settings in that one pedal.

And if there’s one thing I’ve learned after years of gigging, songwriting, and messing around with more gadgets than I care to admit, it’s this: the smallest pieces of gear often have the biggest impact on your creative workflow.

And sometimes, they don’t need to scream for attention.

They just need to work—consistently, quietly, and effectively.

That’s exactly what I’m looking for in the Enya Inspire Wireless Footswitch, the dedicated pedal designed specifically for the Enya Inspire Electric Smart Guitar.

And I’ll say this early: it’s much better than I expected.

This little thing may look minimal at first glance, but under that clean exterior is a deceptively powerful device that turns the Inspire into a truly hands-free performance machine.

Ultra-Portable and Surprisingly Solid

One of the things I really appreciate about Enya’s design language is how they manage to make their devices feel premium without overcomplicating them.

The Inspire Wireless Footswitch weighs about the same weight as a small smartphone—but it’s wrapped in an aerospace-grade alloy chassis that feels much tougher than it looks.

At only 41mm thick, you can literally slide this into the front pocket of a gig bag, backpack, or even that random zipper compartment you always forget exists.

For someone like me who constantly travels between home, studio, and random songwriting spots, this level of portability feels like freedom.

It’s one of those “set-and-forget” pieces of gear that just goes with you everywhere because it’s so easy to bring.

Eight Hours of Playtime – Because Creativity Never Checks the Time

If there’s something I hate, it’s when a device dies in the middle of a performance or while I’m recording an idea I swear is going to be my next big hit (until I listen to it the next morning and wonder if I recorded it half-asleep).

Thankfully, the Inspire Footswitch comes with up to 8 hours of battery life on a full charge. That’s more than enough for a full day of noodling, rehearsals, spontaneous live streams, or recording sessions.

And in the rare moment you do drain it, the rapid-charging feature brings it back to full in about 90 minutes.

Tactile Footswitches That Feel “Just Right”

Let’s talk about the switches because honestly, I didn’t expect them to feel this good.

Footswitches can be weird—too soft, too stiff, too loud, too mushy, or just annoyingly slow. The Inspire Wireless Footswitch sits in that satisfying sweet spot: fast 0.3-second response time, slightly metallic click, super clean feel under your foot.

No lag.

No misfires.

The build is genuinely pro-grade.

The response is instant.

And the clickiness is subtle enough that you won’t annoy your bandmates but tactile enough for confidence on a dark stage.

This is especially important for players who rely heavily on switching tones mid-performance.

It’s one thing to tap a touchscreen.

It’s another to stomp on a pedal and know it listened.

It basically gives me the same feel as that of my Zoom G5n or my newly acquired M-VAVE Chocolate Plus MIDI footswitch paired to my SOnicake Pocket Master.

Hands-Free Tone Mastery With the Pedal Matrix

One of the footswitch’s coolest features is its pedal matrix, which lets you cycle through three customizable tone presets instantly. This is huge for live performers.

Instead of worrying about messing with the app mid-song, or reaching down to tap the guitar’s onboard controls, you just:

  • Step on the pedal
  • Move to the next tone
  • Keep playing

It makes your stage presence smoother, your transitions cleaner, and your brain less cluttered.

Creativity flows better when your gear stays out of your way.

IMPORTANT: Three Versions—Do NOT Mix Them Up

This is something Enya emphasizes, and I’ll repeat it because it’s crucial:

There are three different versions of the wireless pedal:

  • Inspire
  • NEXG 2
  • Cyber-G

They are NOT cross-compatible.
The Inspire Wireless Footswitch works only with the Inspire guitar.

Double-check before buying. A lot of people mix these up, especially with all the similarly named Enya smart guitars floating around.

Pairing the Footswitch: Simple, Quick, and Painless

Pairing the pedal to the Inspire is surprisingly straightforward. Here’s the process based on my experience:

  1. Turn on your Inspire guitar.
Make sure it’s powered and ready.
  2. Hold down footswitches 2 and 3 at the same time.
The lights will start flashing—this means pairing has started.
  3. Bring the pedal close to the guitar.
The closer they are, the faster they’ll sync. Or maybe it’s just me…
  4. Wait for the flashing to stop.
Once the lights become steady, you’re paired.

From here, the fun begins.

The numbered switches (1, 2, 3, and 4) let you toggle between your presets. And when you switch banks, only the indicator for the active bank will light up—simple, intuitive, and foolproof.

Or in my case… me-proof.

The Enya Inspire Wireless Footswitch is one of those accessories that you don’t realize you need until you start using it.

Then suddenly it becomes essential.

If you own an Inspire guitar, this is practically a no-brainer.

It unlocks the Inspire’s full capabilities and transforms it into a hands-free, performance-ready machine. The combination of portability, build quality, deep customization, and seamless wireless control honestly puts it on the level of pro-grade multi-effects gear.

But again—don’t buy the wrong version. Inspire, NEXG 2, and Cyber-G all use different pedals. As long as you pick the right one, the Inspire Wireless Footswitch will feel like a natural extension of your guitar.

And for a small device that fits in your bag’s side pocket, that’s saying something.

Luckily, the Enya Inspire does come with the wireless footswitch pedal in the box so that’s one less thing to worry about.
