Northern Invasion YAKA Malaybalay brings together Davao and Bukidnon’s finest underground acts in one explosive night of live music at YAKA Bar. It’s more than a gig — it’s a musical bridge connecting two vibrant scenes.

Why this night matters

Northern Invasion is a handshake between two music communities that have cheered for each other from a distance. We bring the energy of Davao City north to Bukidnon, and we meet the mountain air with loud guitars, honest lyrics, and the nerves you only get when you play away from home.

The choice of venue is intentional. YAKA Bar sits near Malaybalay’s Capitol Grounds, known among locals for good food, beer, and live music nights that feel close to the ground and close to the heart. Project LUPAD Recent live sessions filmed at YAKA show exactly that vibe: raw performances, audience in on every chorus, the room moving together. YouTube

The bands, at a glance

Trashbunk

Trashbunk blends the tension of late-’90s Nu metal with the raw spirit of grunge, turning heaviness into something almost cinematic. Every song feels like a build and release — sharp, emotional, unfiltered. It’s loud, it’s honest, and it’s ours.

Blinking Amber

Dreamy yet forceful, Blinking Amber sits where shoegaze meets alternative rock. The band paints weight and warmth in equal measure — huge guitars, hazy textures, and melodies that linger long after the last chord. I’d personally call them Nu-Gaze or something.

Project Satellite

From Davao’s heavy underground, Project Satellite brings a high-voltage mix of nu-metal grit and alternative groove. Their live sets are pure motion — bodies in sync with riffs that hit like pulses. I would personally call it #gilingcore, and once you see them, you’ll understand why. Expect sweat, swing, and a wall of sound that doesn’t let up.

Wanuna Project

Wanuna Project provides the Bukidnon voice in the lineup. Their recent videos include “Migo & Saka Ta Bai” and “Saka Ta Bai.” The songs are framed as tributes to Malaybalay and the culture around it, which fits the spirit of this night. YouTube+1 The group also shows up at city celebrations and public stages, a sign of their roots in the local scene. Facebook+1

From my notebook (as Trashbunk)

We’ve been writing, recording, and driving at odd hours for a year now. Nights like this are the reward. New city. Same volume. Same intent. When the first snare hits in YAKA and the bass starts to shake the ground, I want you close to the stage. I want to see you sing with us. Northern Invasion isn’t just a show — it’s proof that scenes can share rooms, miles apart but moving in step.
