Mooer S1 Prime Multi-Effects Footswitch Controller

Mooer has done it again with the Mooer S1 Prime Multi-Effects Footswitch Controller!

For those who value compact portability like me, Mooer continues to deliver the goods. First, they started with mini foot pedals, and even managed to make smaller ones! And then they put out multi-FX pedals. Finally, the most obvious origin of the S1, the Prime P1!

They even have guitars with onboard effects which is seriously making me consider getting one just so I can lessen the amount of gear I tote around when I go to gigs.

Now the Mooer S1 Prime is so small that it fits in your pocket. You don’t even need a pedal board to bring it along. Just take it out of your pocket and voila! You’re good to go!

But is it worth the price tag?

Sure, like all other Mooer products, the Mooer S1 Prime is very affordable. But can the cost justify the product’s value?

Let’s take a deeper look at the Mooer S1 Prime and its features.

Highly Capable for Onstage and Offstage Use

To begin with, this multi-effects footswitch controller is a compact yet powerful addition to any guitarist’s setup. Whether you use it onstage or in the studio, this mighty, mini multi-effects pedal is ready for any musical situation.

Highly Portable Device for the Musician on the Go

Let’s face it, portability is the number one reason why you’d buy a Mooer product. Their products haven’t been the most on-point in terms of performance (I’m looking at the micro pedals and those are just… meh).

Still, I’d choose my Mooer Wahter over any wah pedal simply because it’s highly portable and sounds good enough for onstage use. There, I said it.

Let’s just say I love some Mooer products and I don’t care about the others. I tend to lean towards love.

Lately, things have changed for Mooer.

They’ve upped the quality and reliability of their products.

One of my biggest gripes with Mooer is the lack of internal batteries in their pedals. Again, I’m looking at the micro pedals. The small form factor simply doesn’t leave enough room for a battery.

The Mooer S1 Prime is different. It has an internal 2000mAh battery that should help power you through 4.5 hours of playing. That’s more than enough power for a gig unless you’re in Guns ‘N’ Roses.

(Note – they play 4 hours plus gigs onstage really giving the people their money’s worth when they play onstage)

The presence of an internal battery helps you do away with bringing along an extra cable for charging or a power supply to keep playing. Nevertheless, it supports USB-C cable charging with requirements stated as DC 5V/2A.

This is truly a device made for the musician on the go.

Elegant Design, Rugged Build Quality

Mooer outdid themselves with this pedal. The S1 looks extremely nice with its color shifting motif from blue to purple. And yet, despite its elegant looks, this is a rugged, albeit, lightweight pedal that’s ideal for gigs, rehearsals, or even spontaneous jam sessions.

Don’t let its small size and dainty look fool you. This is a jam-packed pedal that has (almost) everything you’ll ever need.

  • Weight: 350g
  • Dimensions: 240mm (D) x 70.2mm (W) x 31.9mm (H)

Uncompromising Functionality and Performance

The S1 is equipped with a comprehensive selection of effects, including modulation, delay, reverb, and distortion. There are 128 guitar effects which allows for endless sonic exploration.

There’s also a tuner, a metronome, a looper, and a drum machine that makes this perfect for practice or playing onstage, offstage, or in the studio.

Thankfully, the S1 has an intuitive interface and user-friendly controls so you can focus more on playing than scratching your head while trying to figure the device out.

So whether you’re crafting ambient textures, soaring leads, or crunchy rhythms, the Mooer S1 Prime delivers exceptional sound quality and responsiveness.

Its robust footswitches provide reliable performance, allowing for precise effect switching and on-the-fly adjustments without any latency or signal degradation.

The Mooer S1 Prime Multi-Effects Footswitch Controller Offers a Slew of Connectivity Options

Perhaps the most attractive feature that the Mooer S1 Prime has is its connectivity. Most especially its high-quality Bluetooth audio connectivity and USB-C to USB-A (OTG) for direct recording into a laptop or PC. Yes, you can use it as a DAW.

You can use its connectivity to update the firmware or manage your presets. This alone can help you personalize your Mooer S1 Prime and really make it your sound when you take it out to play.

The multiple ways you can connect allows for easy monitoring of your sound when you play or record.

There are also input and output ¼” mono audio jacks and a headphone output for quiet practice purposes. You can use the dual output jacks to play in stereo through a single amp or wire yourself up to two separate amps and dial in different sound settings.

  • Guitar Input: ¼” mono audio jack, 2M ohm
  • Left and Right Output: ¼” mono audio jack, 100 ohm
  • Headphone Output: 1/8” stereo audio jack, 32 ohm
  • Bluetooth Version: 5.0
  • Wireless System: 2.4G

The Mooer S1 Prime has a companion app that makes it easy to modify or download patches as well as create entirely new ones with just your mobile device. You can also share your developed tones or download user-developed tones to try out.

The ability to share these patches opens up a world of networking possibilities with other Mooer S1 Prime users. Who knows, your next musical soulmate could just be a patch download away.

Looks Like I’m About to Get One

The Mooer S1 Prime Multi-Effects Footswitch Controller is truly a game-changer for gigging musicians who are always on the go. Or in my case, someone who just doesn’t want to lug around a heavy pedalboard but still wants all sorts of effects to color their sound.

The Mooer S1 Prime Multi-Effects Footswitch Controller is good for onstage and offstage use and has a looper and a drum machine. Its ability to act as a DAW is also a good draw for someone like me.

I mean what else do you really need when you have a Mooer S1 Prime Multi-Effects Footswitch Controller? Maybe a boost pedal? An expression pedal? Sure, I got those. Other than that, this is the complete package.

I’m seriously deciding on getting rid of my Zoom G5n for this one.

Hmmm.
