Why call on people to support a band that seemingly has already succeeded?
Even though The Band Thea seems to have already gotten the mainstream attention that has eluded most bands in Davao, the continued support of everyone is still needed to keep the momentum of their success going. They’re currently on Spotify and is already a favourite of people in and out of Davao.
I never really thought of this band much until I got to play at a Valentine’s Day gig where their guitarist blew me away with his note choices on the fretboard. It was clear that Ronald Tubio was one very talented guitarist.
And their singer, Thea, is a true blue entertainer. I was at State of Mind waiting for the rest of my band, AcidRadius, when I heard her playing in one of the rooms. She was all alone. She was trying out some new stuff on her Ukulele and singing along. I think the members of Ayos Sapatos and I were given the privilege to hear some unrecorded gems when she sang in front of us showcasing her ukulele skills and pleasing voice. That’s what a consummate entertainer does, entertain people. And that’s why The band Thea is where they are now after slogging it out with the rest of the Davao bands.
So let’s keep supporting the band Thea. They truly deserve to have more people behind them, cheering them on!
