Well, it’s official. Goodbye 2024, hello 2025!

And what a way to say goodbye to the past year!

We just came home from the New Year’s celebration here in Eastwood.

It was a blast.

We hung out with Jean Paul, his nephew, and a couple of friends. We  managed to secure a place where we had a great view of the stage without the amplifiers blaring in our general direction near Jamba Juice.

It was cool, we managed to sit down and my son had a great time sipping his juice while watching all the activity in the area.

We didn’t really get to see all of the performers. I believe we missed Dione and Dionela and only got to enjoy Janine Tenoso’s last few minutes before she had to exit the stage.

Janine Tenoso

Janine Tenoso is one of the few new Vicor Music artists I have started listening to because Jean Paul recommended I should.

I find her voice very sultry and expressive and the songs she’s involved herself in are very… adventurous. Musically. I find myself inspired to try and make songs in that vein.

Maybe I should go and find a female vocalist to perform with… that girl from Vipera seems like a good vocalist (and probably better at guitars than I…) that I should talk to one of these days about the possibility of a collaboration.

Hey maybe I could even get Danni Tam, the Hospital Doors’ bassist to come onboard and hold the low end.

I wonder what type of music we’d make.

Barbie Almalbis

It’s great to see Barbie Almalbis onstage again.

And it seems like her guitar skills have only gotten better. I’m not used to seeing her in glittery clothes though but hey, that’s her as a performer and the crowd likes shiny things.

Barbie’s band is nothing short of phenomenal.

Words aren’t enough to describe the musical satisfaction one can get just by listening to them plow through their songs onstage. Sadly, I wasn’t able to take a video because at this time, my son wanted me to carry him away from the crowd.

TJ Monterde

This guy TJ Monterde is a really good singer.

I have got to give his songs a listen when I get home.

KZ Tandingan

Well, it seems like they picked the best headliner for the show. The crowd lit up the second KZ Tandingan stepped onstage.

She was just pure energy.

That girl was made to be onstage.

And that voice.

Geez.

Fireworks Display

My son slept through the entire fireworks display.

And that’s saying something because it was loud and the sky turned bright with all the colors exploding up above Eastwood’s buildings.

There’s Always a Bad Thing Happening Despite All the Good

My sister’s friend didn’t have that great a night as us because her 14-year-old son decided today was a great day to ignore his mom’s calls. I feel for her. I too would be frantic if my teenage son was nowhere to be found especially on a day when family is meant to be together.

I hope she found him. Hopefully right after midnight so she can still say goodbye 2024, hello 2025 with relief knowing he’s safe.

We Immediately Broke One Resolution

After the event, we headed for the food places in Eastwood but were told that all were closed.

Closed?!?

At this time?

When everyone is giddy from all the celebrations and hungry or thirsty?

What an waste of opportunity to cash in on the number of people present in one place…

We ended up heading for Timog and ate some burgers at Army Navy.

That’s it for now.

The sunlight is creeping up and it’s time to sleep the rest of the day off.

Happy new year everyone.

Hello 2025!
